Protestors gather in Sheffield to demonstrate against fracking

Demonstrators gathered in Sheffield today in the wake of a [controversial decision](http://n application to frack for shale gas at a site in Kirby Misperton, near Pickering has been approved by North Yorkshire County Council.) to allow fracking for the first time in Britain for five years.

Friends of the Earth called North Yorkshire County Council's approval of fracking in North Yorkshire 'an absolute travesty of a decision'.

Protestors today said fracking should not be taking place anywhere in the country.
