Dawn Egging and Red Arrows team leader present Jon Egging Trust Awards
The late Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging has been honoured this afternoon as awards from a trust set up in his memory were handed out to students in Lincoln.
Students aged 13 to 15 from the Priory Witham Academy were awarded their graduation certificates by Dawn Egging, mother of Jon Egging and Trustee of the Jon Egging Trust and Squadron Leader David Montenegro, Team Leader of the Red Arrows.
The students are all part of a Blue Skies youth engagement programme whichconcentrates on teamwork and leadership skills. The programme is run by the Jon EggingTrust in conjunction with personnel from the BBMF RAF Coningsby, RAF Scampton,RAFAT (Red Arrows), RAF Waddington, RAF Wittering, and RAF Cranwell.
The Jon Egging Trust, was set up in memory of Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging (Red4) who tragically lost his life on 20th August 2011 whilst completing a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival.
The charity realises his dream of helping young people overcome adversity, identify their strengths and work towards their ambitions.
During the rest of the programme which continues until June,the students will be guided through problem solving, teamwork, leadership andcommunication tasks which will provide them with credits towards aqualification in BTEC qualification in Workskills.
