Mugging victim: I'm scared to leave my own home now
A pensioner says she is afraid to leave her own home after muggers knocked her to the ground and stole her handbag containing her pension and house keys.
Joan Richardson, who's 80, suffered bruising and was taken to hospital following the attack in the former mining village of Thurcroft in South Yorkshire.
She has now appealed to local people not to shield those who carried out the mugging.
The man who robbed her cared little that she is 80-years-old. Joan is also registered disabled with heart problems.
Her walking stick should have been a clear giveaway but that didn't stop the attackers snatching her handbag and knocking her to the ground.
They stole what was left of her latest pension payment - around £110 in cash - plus credit cards and house keys.
It left her with severe bruising to her knee and elbow. What hurts most though is the lack of respect she says everyone once had in the village where she grew up.
Joan says the attack has robbed her of what little independence she had because she says she's now afraid to leave her home.
Police believe someone must have witnessed what happened and want help in tracing a man who's five foot seven and was wearing a black hooded top, white shirt and tracksuit bottoms.
