Thousands raise thousands for charity in Sheffield half marathon

Ready for off

Thousands of runners have taken part in the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon in Sheffield

It's the second year the race has been held in the city - last year's inaugural event, organised by Jane Tomlinson's Run For All, raised £175,000 for its partner charities alone.

And they're off

Tens of thousands of pounds more were raised by runners running for other good causes of their choice, taking the overall total to an estimated £350,000.

And with over 7,000 runners taking part today it is hoped this year's event will have raised even more.
