Junior doctors walk out for second time over contract negotiations
Junior doctors have been picketing over what is become an increasingly bitter dispute.
The government's offer of an eleven per cent pay rise has come at a price and the junior doctors won't budge on the issue of redefining unsocial hours.
The plan is to increase cover at weekends. The doctors say that with the current workforce that would, the NHS dangerously stretched.
Junior doctors have been providing emergency care but around 2800 operations were cancelled.
Junior doctors already provide most weekend cover in hospitals but the government is determined to change contracts it says are outdated.
