Leeds captain McGuire to miss World Club Challenge
Leeds captain Danny McGuire will be sidelined for around two months with a knee injury sustained in the Super League champions' opening match of the season.
McGuire, who has taken over the captaincy from the departed Kevin Sinfield, limped off 31 minutes into the Rhinos' 12-10 home defeat by Warrington at Headingley on Thursday night and left the ground with his knee in a brace.
The 33-year-old half-back went for scans on Friday and put on a brave face as he posted the outcome on his Twitter account.
It means McGuire will miss Leeds' World Club Challenge meeting with Australian champions North Queensland Cowboys on February 21 and coach Brian McDermott will have to find a new captain in the meantime.
Meanwhile, new signing Anthony Mullally will make his comeback in Leeds' trial match against League 1 club Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday.
Prop forward Mullally, signed from Huddersfield at the end of last season, suffered a knee injury playing in the Rhinos' game against the New Zealandtourists last October.
