Mother of drowned student advises those on night out about river dangers
The mother of Megan Roberts, who drowned in York's River Ouse after a night out, took to the city's student area last night to back a safety initiative.
Jackie Roberts went out with the 'Night Safe' team from York's universities.
The team was set up in response to a number of tragic incidents - including the drowning of Megan Roberts. They hand out water and offer support to students on a night out.
Jackie went along to raise awareness of the RLSS 'Don't Drink and Drown' campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the dangers the river can pose to people who have been drinking alcohol.
It was two years since Megan went missing before her body was found in the river.
It is the first time that Jackie has been to the area on a night since Megan's body was found in the Ouse.
Jackie spoke to students throughout the night to advise them about the dangers of the city's rivers.
