Tadcaster to get new footbridge 'within weeks'

Tadcaster is up get a new footbridge to cross the River Wharfe - within weeks .

The news was announced by North Yorkshire County Council today.

The footbridge will be built 100 yards downstream of the road crossingwhich was badly damaged in the Boxing Day floods.

Plans to build a footbridge up river of the old bridge stalled whenthe landowners, Samuel Smiths Brewery, raised objections.
