Blind dog reunited with little girl after letter to Santa

A schoolgirl who wrote a letter to Santa asking him to bring her dog home has been reunited with her blind pooch.

Isla Kerr, seven, penned the note after telling her mum "Santa can do anything" when three-year-old Dolly the Boston terrier disappeared.

Dolly, who is blind and requires daily medication, was last seen on Wednesday evening when she was tied up outside a shop close to their home in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire.

Isla's appeal was answered on Monday evening when mum Vanessa Meskimmon, 32, received a call from a man who had spotted Dolly alone at the local park.

Careworker Vanessa stayed on the phone while she directed the man - who had seen the appeal to locate Dolly - in his car to their home, where husband, Darren Kerr, 33, went to the car and confirmed it was their dog.

The family have had Dolly since she was nine weeks old and she lost her sight earlier this year through an incurable condition.
