Angry fans put Leeds Utd owner Massimo Cellino up for sale on Ebay

Angry Leeds United supporters have come up with a novel way to deal with their controversial chairman - sell him on eBay.

After owner Massimo Cellino reneged on a promise to sell part of the club to fans, supporters have made an attempt to offload him.

An eBay listing has put the controversial Italian up for sale as "for parts or not working", with a starting bid of a penny, which had risen to £1,060 with 40 bids on Thursday afternoon.

The seller notes Cellino is "subject to mood swings, forgets to pay tax and often completely incoherent".

It also said: "Likely to be deemed completely unfit for purpose in the near future and banned from use altogether."

The full listing reads: "For sale, one used football club owner, desperately in need of a new home.

"Will bring the following qualities to your football club: False promises, outright lies, contempt for fans, bullying of club staff, the worst signings in your club's history, a new 'head coach' every 13 games, injury faking players."

The advert also offers to throw in Terry George, a nightclub owner in Leeds, and a close friend of Cellino in for free.

Finally the advert pokes fun at the club's decision to charge an extra £5 onto ticket prices on some seats at Elland Road, which Leeds later said would be redeemable for a food voucher.

The ad says: "P.S. an addition £5 will be added to your final bidding price, but don't worry, we'll also send you a free chicken balti pie that you don't actually want."

Potential sellers have posed a number of questions to eBay user micknot2thick18 who listed the businessman for sale.

One user asked: "Can I sack him if he stops working after 6 weeks?" to which the reply was "No. He will find somebody else to blame and will sack them instead."

Making reference to the Italian's former tax troubles another asked: "How much is the er...tax on this mate? I'm not good at paying tax..."

They were told: "It's ok, just don't pay It and then claim that you didn't know the rules."

Another perspective buyer asked: "Will you give him a good wash before delivery? Don't want that stale smell of fags and whiskey in my house, cheers."

The seller said: "I will ask the groundsman at Elland Road to use the sprinklers on him before delivery."

Bidding ends on December 10.

Cellino, who earned the nickname "The Manager Eater" after going through 36 managerial changes during his 22-year ownership of Italian side Cagliari, took over at Leeds in January 2014.

The 59-year-old is already onto his sixth manager at Elland Road since buying the club.

Leeds fans have announced they plan to walk out in the 17th minute during United's game against Hull at Elland Road on Saturday in protest against the board's decision to add an extra £5 to South stand ticket prices in return for food vouchers - dubbed the 'pie tax'.

The number 17 is chosen as a swipe against Cellino, who is deeply suspicious of the number which is considered unlucky in Italian culture.
