Leeds student relives aftermath of Paris horror attacks
A Leeds Trinity University student has been describing how an ordinary night out in Paris turned into a nightmare when terrorists struck at the heart of the city.
Caroline Grandjean, a French broadcast journalism student, was having a drink with a friend in a pavement cafe when the news broke. They had to seek refuge in a underground cellar. Caroline spoke to Calendar via skype from her French apartment.
"I was lucky, " said Caroline "I decided not to go to my friend's house who saw the attack from her window. "
Caroline's friend told her how the nearby restuarant became an 'emergency facility' for doctors on the ground.
Caroline, who is due to fly back to Leeds on Monday, said the mood in Paris is really 'grim' and that she no longer feels 'safe' to go out.
127 people have been confirmed dead with at least 300 injured. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for Friday night's coordinated terror attacks.
