Yorkshire ranks as most haunted county in UK
Yorkshire has been ranked as the most haunted county in the UK according to the paranormal database.
It is apparently home to100s of apparitions, including poltergeists and phantom dogs.
Here are five of the most haunted places in Yorkshire:
Temple Newsam, Leeds - The most famous apparition witnessed here is the “Blue Lady” (believed to be Mary Ingram) who fell victim to thieving highwaymen who stole her necklace. She can be seen searching the house for it today.
East Riddlesden Hall, Bradford - One of the most common apparitions is that of the “Grey Lady”, who was seen so frequently that the bedroom where she was often seen was named after her.
Bolton Abbey, Skipton - A black-robed ghost is said to haunt the church and there have been reports of strong smells of incense during the summer
The Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds - a former workhouse and asylum. An estimated 2,700 people died from the disease during these years. There have been sightings of a ghost in 18th century clothing, and footsteps and bangs around the building.
Pontefract Castle, Wakefield - A series of bloody sieges took place during the 17th century English Civil war where hundreds of soliders died. A black monk has been spotted walking towards the Queens Tower from the kitchen
