Sheffield to resettle Syrian refugees
Sheffield is to open its doors to refugees from Syria. The council has announced it has made an 'immediate offer' to the Government to resettle ten to fifteen families as soon as possible.
The council says it is also open to further talks about assisting in the future national resettlement programme.
The Government announced yesterday that the UK will accept up to 20,000 refugees over the next five years.
The support provided to the refugees will be funded by the Government.
