Thousands call for statue to honour Bradford Jesus Man

Bradford Jesus Man Geoffrey Brindley has died after suffering a stroke at his home in Baildon.

In the 1960s, he gave up work to live in a cave near Settle to receive a message from God. He spent 12 days there before returning to Bradford.

The 88-year-old was well-known in the city and was often seen walking around in a robe and sandals. A website was even set up to list sightings of him.

Two Facebook pages have been set up calling for a statue to be dedicated to him, attracting thousands of 'likes'.

A book of condolence has been opened at Bradford Cathedral.

People have also been posting their memories of him online.
