Flash flooding hits Lincolnshire

Dozens of homes in a Lincolnshire village have been affected by flash flooding. Residents in Long Bennington saw several inches of water pour into their homes last night, as a result of a huge downpour.

In some places, the water was up to three feet deep. Firefighters were in the village until 1am and returned today to help with the clear-up operation.

Alongside the extreme weather, there are claims that blocked drains may also have played a part.

Anglian Water say they also believe the sheer volume of rain was to blame but have sent out help - they'll also now be inspecting their pipes and equipment too

Resident Pam Cudd says she has concerns about blocked drains in the area
