Memorial to be unveiled for 27 killed in mine explosion

A memorial stone is to be unveiled at the spot where an explosion killed 27 miners at Maltby colliery in 1923.

The families of some of those killed will join local dignitaries and MPs for the unveiling ceremony.

Some of those killed include:

Johnathan Chandler Spilsbury, 33, collier
George Perrins. He was a 37 year old Deputy.
Leonard Meredith. He was a 22 year old collier.
George Hickling, 47, ripper
Joseph Spibey, 29, collier
Richard Ernest Dunn, 28, collier
