Mrs Maguire was stabbed to death as she taught at Corpus Cristi school in Leeds last year.

Matthew Calvert and James Weaver have raised around £3,000 for the Ann Maguire Arts Education Fund. The pair were taught from year seven by the popular teacher and say the challenge was something they took on to help boost the charity.

Matthew and James travelled to Stirling last week and cycled the 300 miles back to finish at Leeds Town Hall with friends and family cheering them across the line.

On the trip they endured a few punctures and some bad weather but say they had been training since January, cycling several times a week.

Matthew said, "We probably didn't train as much as we should have done, but I don't think anything can prepare you for that."
