Dame Sarah Storey: Women's race could be start of something special
Dame Sarah Storey hopes that the women's Tour de Yorkshire race could bring women's cycling more parity with men's cycling.
The Tour de Yorkshire Women's race begins this morning in York.
But, unlike, the men's race which is a three day event, it will only last one day.
However, Storey, who has won Paralympic gold in both Swimming and cycling, believes that it is a good step towards making women's cycling more professional.
Storey, who went to University in Yorkshire, studying at Leeds Beckett, is also looking forward to competing in the innagural event
The 37-year-old cyclist, who won gold in the pool 23-years ago in the 1992 Paralympics, believes the race will be perfect preparation for the games in Rio next year.
