Megan Roberts, a 20-year-old student in the city, drowned after falling into the river after a night out last year.

This week, her mother Jackie returned to the spot where her daughter's body was found a year ago.

In the picturesque marina the only clue to the tragedy is a small collection of flowers.

Jackie told ITV Calendar that she felt Megan would support her efforts to improve safety around York's rivers.

Since Megan's death, two other young people have drowned in York's waterways. Ben Clarkson and Tyler Pearson both died within months of Megan, prompting a campaign in the city to improve safety around the rivers.
