Lost trawlermen memorial design divides opinion
Design plans for a much anticipated memorial to Hull's lost trawlermen have divided opinion in the city.
The fishing heritage group Stand spend 26 years campaigning and raising funds for the tribute which is set to be built on a site near St Andrew's Quay in the west of the city.
The memorial's centrepiece is said to be a silent bell on a wooden pole representing a mast, which was to symbolise the silent bells still onboard lost trawlers.
Some of the city's councillors are said to be underwhelmed by the design, while campaigners were similarly unimpressed at the memorial's attempt to represent the loss of 6,000 lives.
