Events are taking place not only to mark the 70th anniversary of Auschwitz, but to also remember those who have endured other forms of genocide and persecution across the world.

People who have suffered, during civil war and political unrest, are due to give a series of speeches to educate others about the experience they and their relatives have faced.

At this memorial event in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, survivors of conflict will swap shoes. This symbolic exchange is designed to give others an understanding of a survivor's past life.
