Mental health worker Deborah - who inspired Pulp song Disco 2000 - dies after learning of MBE

Mental health nurse Deborah Bone - said to have inspired Pulp's Disco 2000 song - died shortly after she learned she had been awarded an MBE, her family has announced.

A childhood friend of Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker in Sheffield, her name is frequently referenced in the band's hit single which reached number 7 in 1995:

Cocker is said to have performed the song at Deborah's 50th birthday party last year.

The mental health nurse was recognised in the New Year Honours list,released just hours after her death earlier this week.

She had been battling a form of bone marrow cancer.
