An arctic blast is affecting many parts of North America especially eastern Canada and the eastern United States. It's often said that we experience America's weather a few days later. So, is it coming our way?

In a word, no, not in the foreseeable future anyway. After a warm first half of November where the mean temperature for the UK was 8.1C, which is 1.9C above the long-term (1981-2010) average for the whole month, it looks as though slightly colder weather will come our way Sunday. Before that, the weather will remain quiet for Thursday and much of Friday. Rain is expected Friday night and this will last into Saturday before skies clear on Sunday. This will give a bright and clear Sunday afternoon and then a frosty night Sunday night. Monday is expected to be a beautiful, clear, dry and sunny day before wet and windy weather moves in for the second half of the week.As ever, keep up to date with the latest forecast.JON MITCHELL
