Extraordinarily mild temperatures today! We have the best of the north of England's weather this Saturday...

SATURDAY

We have an exceptionally mild flow of air blowing in at present, and by the time temperatures peak on Saturday, they will be a good 6 or even 7 degrees warmer than the average for the time of year, which is around 13c.

Any early cloud and rain clears to the south and SE so skies brighten from the NW, just one or two showers in the NW later behind the clearing front.

It will turn out mostly bright and warm with a brisk breeze.

Top temperatures are expected to reach 19c, maybe 20c in some more favoured spots.

SATURDAY NIGHT

A very mild night, fine and dry. Clear spells coming and going. Breeze continues to increase and it will be quite blustery by dawn.

Temperatures not quite as mild as last night at 14-15c, but still well above the average night-time value which is nearer 7c!

SUNDAY

A very mild start to Sunday, bright but quite cloudy. The cover breaks to sunshine for a time but it will be very breezy, a steady 20-25mph wind with gusts of 55mph over hills and exposed areas. Gusts of 70mph across the Pennines. Showers move in from the north during the afternoon, affecting Humber northwards. During the late afternoon/evening period one or two showers slip southwards.

Temperatures mild and still above average, but slightly down on Saturday's and feeling it, around 15-16c.

Rain clears on Sunday night and into Monday morning and the wind eases a little.

MONDAY

Dry, bright start, thickening cloud and patchy rain push in from the west. Breezy.

MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY[](http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?regionName=yh&from=rss&sn=B7ECAE3A-E2A6-34DA-792F-229DAB4F3EA2_1_YH&tab=map&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1413586800)The Met Office have issued a yellow warning of winds which could reach gale force.

The warning is valid from midnight until 3pm on Tuesday 21st October and is set to mainly affect the following parts of the ITV Calendar region: East Riding of Yorkshire, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull & York.

The remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo catch up with another system which is due to push across the UK on Monday night. Between them, they make for a very lively night, winds widely reaching gale force.

The system will be very active and it could be wet and windy with an inch or so of rain expected.

We expect it to be a fairly typical autumn storm, but Hurricane Gonzalo passed through Bermuda last night with gusts peaking at 144mph, the most severe storm for them in over a decade, since 2003 in fact. So, although it will be the remnants of Gonzalo which affect us on Monday night, be aware that it could be the strongest storm to hit us so far this autumn.

TUESDAY

Rain pushes through quickly on the very strong winds and gales overnight, and although winds start strong on Tuesday, they should ease during the day to give a mostly fine but blustery day, some showers behind the band of rain. A fresher feeling day.

WEDNESDAY

Next system pushes in bringing cloud and rain, temperatures recovering again and once more, set to creep above the average again.
