M62 one of worst motorways in Britain for lane closures
The M62 motorway, which runs through West Yorkshire, has been revealed as one of the worst in Britain for lane closures.
Figures obtained from the Highways Agency by motor insurers swiftcover.com show there were 358 days of closures on the motorway last year.
Some major motorways did not operate at full capacity on any day last year. There were some lane closures on all 365 days of 2013 on the M1, M4, M5, M6 and M25 as well as on the M60 in north west England and on the M54 in Shropshire and Staffordshire.
The Highways Agency says investment in roads now will mean smoother and more reliable journeys in the future.
