Fighter planes takeover Leeds City Centre for Great War commemoration

WW1 planes on show in Leeds

Two World War One aircraft are on display in Leeds for one day only from the Yorkshire Air Museum as part of the region's commemoration of the Great War.

Re-enactors and Leeds City Councillors gathered at the Victoria Gardens outside Leeds Art Gallery

On display will include an RAF built example of a 1914 BE2c fighter and a recently restored replica 1917 PV8 Eastchurch Kitten which will be fired up every hour - giving visitors the chance to experience the roar of an engine not heard for a hundred years.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds Tom Murray was there to take part in the event:
