Lincoln Common Urban Ranger service ends today
Lincoln Urban Ranger service will end today, following a decision at a budget vote to withdraw the necessary funding. The position of Lincoln Common Warden was also halted at the vote in March.
The Council needs to save £3 million by 2017/2018, due to several years of cuts in central government grants. Closing both services will allow combined savings of £540,000 over the next five years.
Before the vote 1,200 local residents signed a petition calling for the patrols to be maintained. The scheme used a motorcycle patrol and bike mounted CCTV to help curb anti-social behaviour at green spaces in the city.
