Archaeologists will remove skeleton coffin in September
Archaeologists who found nine skeletons buried beneath Lincoln Castle say they plan to open up a stone coffin with a skeleton inside it in September.
So far only an endoscopy has been carried out on the coffin where a camera was poked inside. A full skeleton could be seen on the camera, as well as a shiny object.
Archaeologists believe the skeleton could have belonged to someone extremely high up in society like a lawmaker, but have played down speculation that it could have been a Saxon King or Bishop.
