Armed Forces Day celebrated across the region

There are a series of events taking place this weekend across the region to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day is an annual opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.

Here are some of the events which are taking place across the Calendar region:

Saturday 29 June

Halifax - Cadets from the D Company, Yorkshire (N&W) Army Cadet Force will be on parade at Piece Hall, Halifax at 0900hrs. They will then march through town and back to the hall. A stall with a display from the cadet force is to be set up showing off material promoting the Army Cadet Force.

Doncaster - 150 service personnel will form up at Waterside civic square at 1414hrs. They will then March a circular route which includes Chequer Rd. There will be a saluting Dias at Water dale Square where the Officer Commanding Major Bouttell will take the salute from the marching troops. Servicemen will then form up for a remembrance service in the Civic Square.

Cleethorpes- - The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Collingwood will march through Cleethorpes from St Peters Church Hall to Ross Castle Memorial between 1330hrs and 1500hrs. They will then complete a full band performance at the remembrance gate at 1800 Hrs and finish at 1845hrs.

Scarborough - 4 Yorkshire Regiment will have an array of stands on the Eastborough Rd Car Park from 1200hrs - 1700hrs. The stands include paint ball range, assault course, an equipment display and a field kitchen.

Sunday June 30

York - 4 Yorkshire Regiment and 34 Field Hospital will have an array of stands on Parliament Square in York from 1200hrs - 1700hrs. The stands include paint ball range, assault course, an equipment display, medical aid post and a field kitchen.
