Rebecca Adlington will today make a ‘major announcement’ at a press conference in London regarding the future of her career in swimming.

Adlington, raised in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, rose to fame when she took two gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Games, for which she was subsequently awarded an OBE in 2009.

Four years later, at the 2012 London Games, Rebecca won two bronze medals.

Following her performance in London, Adlington announced last September that she has no intention of competing at the Rio Games in 2016.

Adlington’s roots are very much based in Nottinghamshire; learning to swim at the age of four, Rebecca attended a club in the Sherwood Swimming Pool.
