Rugby legend to open new academy in Leeds
He won fifty-one rugby union international test caps, won 12 caps for Great Britain and seven for England - and he is heading back to his old club to help launch a new academy today.
The Hunslet Club and Hunslet Parkside ARLFC in South Leeds will open the Hunslet Club and Parkside Rugby Academy later. It is a partnership between two clubs with long and proud histories in the sport. Experienced coaches will hold training sessions for children and young people from age 3 to 18.
Colin Cooper, Secretary of Hunslet Parkside, said: "This partnership sets the foundations for rugby in Hunslet for the future. We want to ensure that young people have something positive to do which keeps them off the streets and away from crime."
"We are thrilled to be working together with Hunslet Parkside to deliver the very best rugby training for young people in an area with such a strong rugby heritage."
Dennis Robbins, Chief Executive Officer of the Hunslet Club, said: "Our hope is that together that we might find and nurture the next rugby star of tomorrow like our former member Jason Robinson."
