A man from Bingley has been jailed for murdering his girlfriend after attacking her in a jealous rage.

Santosh Kumar has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing Samantha Warren in Bradford earlier this year.

The 42 year old attacked Samantha (33) after finding out she'd disobeyed him by going to a garage being run by a man he thought she was "messing about" with.

She was found with serious head injuries at an address on Libbey Street in Bradford on 26th April, and died three days later as a result of her injuries.

Speaking after the sentencing Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Jon Morgan said: "Purely manifested from his own insecurities, Kumar was consumed in jealousy, triggering a brutal and violent response which Samantha Warren could never have expected."

Detective Morgan continued: “Today’s sentence should serve as a warning to the perpetrators of domestic violence. Such behaviour will not be tolerated nor accepted in our city and those who commit offences of this nature will be dealt with to the full extent of the law.

"I would also call on the victims who often suffer in silence, to have the confidence to report it. We can do something about it, no matter how complicated you believe the circumstances to be."
