Jimmy Savile's grave to be dismantled
Jimmy Savile's £4,000 grave is to be dismantled 'out of respect for public opinion'. The triple headstone was only erected on September 20, but now the family have said:
"Out of respect to public opinion, to those who are buried there, and to those who tend their graves and visit there, we have decided to remove it."
– FAMILY SPOKESMANPlans for a statue in the town have already been scrapped and a plaque at his former home was defaced with the words 'paedophile' and 'rapist'. As a result, relatives of other people buried at the cemetery were also worried about the prospect of vandalism.
There is no suggestion at this stage that his remains will be removed.
This morning on ITV1's Daybreak, the Prime Minister said Savile could have his knighthood posthumously removed. Watch the report, below.
