Lizzie Armitstead has received a heroine's welcome in her home town of Otley tonight - with the public being encouraged to join in the action and "get on their bikes" alongside her cavalcade.

The 23-year-old cyclist led a parade through the town on board an open-top bus.

She was followed by a cavalcade made up of local cyclists, runners and locals lining the streets. A civic presentation was then held in her honour in the Market Square, where Lizzie showed off her silver medal - the first won by Team GB at London 2012. The public also had a chance to collect her autograph and take photos with the sporting star.
