Children of Pakistani and Bangladeshi heritage across Leeds have been taking part in a project to show off their achivements.

Pupils from 11 primary schools in the city headed to the Alhambra Garden at Roundhay Park to enjoy a host of Islam based entertainment. It is after a curriculum topic called the 'Secret Garden' was introduced by Leeds City Council to raise attainment levels.

It involved the pupils designing their own Islamic gardens, producing pieces of writing, studying geometric shapes in mathematics, and discovering more about Mughal gardens and the significance of gardens to Islam.

The celebratory event allowed the children to show off their work to a wider audience, made up of pupils, staff and parents from the schools taking part. Talented poets and musicians from the community provided entertainment.
