North York Moors Gasplant plans approved

The £50 million gas processing plant is set to be built on the egde of the Thornton-le-Dale.

The company, Moorland Energy , says it will take less than 3.5 days of production to supply gas, with an energy value equivalent to the annual energy needs of more than 1,400 homes.

Opponents have slammed the decision claiming it would scar the landscape for ever.

The group 'Against Having Sourgas in Thornton' say they are now looking for a legal case against the decision.
