A father and son from Barnsley have been awarded for the bravery after stopping a drunk driver who left the scene of a crash.

45-year-old Kevin Dixon and his 17-year-old son, Kiefer, saw a drunk driver crash into the back of another car and then flee the scene, even though the other driver had been injured.

Kevin and Kiefer followed him from where the crash had occurred in Cawthorne and saw him crash his Land Rover for the second time into a tree, before running into woods. They followed him into the woods where they caught him and waited for the police to arrive to arrest him.

The 59-year-old driver from Penistone has received a three year disqualification from driving and a community service sentence.
