Olympic torch celebrations
Thousands of schoolchildren across our region are celebrating the arrival of the Olympic torch by attempting to break records with a mass dance event. Children all over the world have been learning this big dance for the Cultural Olympiad. Over 200 schools in Yorkshire are performing - the biggest take up in the country. Dances have also been organised in Lincolnshire and Chesterfield. The pupils will dance simultaneously at 1 pm today.
Staff at Barnsley Hospital are welcoming the Olympic torch with their very own Olympic obstacle challenge to raise funds for the hospital. Staff will take part in traditional sports day type events including hurdles and an egg and spoon race.
