In memory of Laila
A couple from Pontefract have cycled 500 miles around the West of Scotland in memory of their baby daughter. Laila Milly McCormack died last year on the day before her first birthday from a rare genetic condition called Aicardi syndrome. Maya and Steve McCormack set up the Laila Milly Foundation to support families with children who suffer from complex conditions and their 11 day bike ride was to raise funds for the charity. The money they raise from the bike ride will go towards creating a sensory room which is going to cost £20,000 to install. The couple cycled around the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde, then through the mainland taking in Oban and parts of the Highlands, to the Isles of Mull and Skye in the Inner Hebrides and from there to Harris in the Outer Hebrides.
Day seven of the 11 day bike ride through the dramatic Scottish countryside.
Day 11 - Steve and Maya McCormack at the end of a 503 bike ride in memory of their daughter. It's not the first fundraiser dad Steve has been involved in. Last April he led a group of firefighters from Castleford on a climb up Ben Nevis, Britain's largest mountain, wearing full firefighting gear.
