Campaign for justice
A mother's 12 year search for justice in memory of her son could soon be over. The Independent Police Complaints Commission has ordered Humberside Police to investigate a complaint brought by Shanie Parkin, whose 17-year-old son Bradley was found hanging at his school in 2000.
He was found behind the stage area at the Lindsey School in Cleethorpes. Shanie has complained the initial investigation was not thorough enough. Two separate inquests have been held. The first one in 2000 recorded an open verdict. A second inquest was held in Scunthorpe in 2008 after tireless campaigning by his mother. There have also been two police investigations and an independent review.
Shanie Parkin is now leading a national campaign to improve the way sudden deaths are investigated. She also wants an independent body to oversee coroners.
