Olympic Dreams: Is travel to the Games affordable?
Travel companies are urging people heading to London for the Games to make their travel arrangements as soon as possible.
Train. A special website's been set up for those who have tickets for an event, and want to travel to London via train. Travel this way is only valid with an Olympic ticket and can range between £96 - £230.70 for a family of four returning on the same day.
Coach. National Express has services direct to the Olympic Park from Sheffield, Leeds and Bradford. The company will monitor demand during the Games and draft in additional coaches as required. A family of four returning on the same day will pay an average of £114.
Car. 30,000 car parking spaces will be available in London each day. They will be part of a park and ride arrangement and need to be booked. Venues range from £14 for cars and from £30 for minibuses. There is also a booking charge of £2.50. An additional 780 spaces are available at no cost for Blue Badge holders.
