One of the main Royal Bank of Scotland branches in Carlisle is closing today.

RBS on Lowther Street will shut as part of a programme by the bank to cut 162 branches in England and Wales.

It comes months after the decision to close several branches across the south of Scotland.

The other RBS branch in Carlisle on Castle Street is due to close at the end of November.

The closes are expected to lead to almost 800 job losses.
