Council response to recycling row confuses residents
People in parts of Dumfries and Galloway could soon find themselves unable to recycle any of their waste, as a result of a fallout between the council and a contractor.
The area is already one of Scotland's worst performers when it comes to recycling, with no door-to-door collections.
Residents currently have to travel to one of 13 designated centres, 11 of which could close from August 2018 if the dispute is not resolved.
However, the issue has been overshadowed by the council's response to the situation.
