Hundreds gather to mark Armed Forces Day

There have been ceremonies and parades across the region to mark Armed Forces Day.

Two of the biggest events were held in Carlisle and Dumfries.

Generations of servicemen past, present and future marched proudly through the centre of Dumfries.

Armed Forces Day is organised as an occasion for the public to show their support for the forces.

Many local events will offer opportunities to support charities connected with the armed forces.
