Four-year-old in critical condition after A591 crash

A four-year-old girl is in a critical condition after a car she was travelling in left the A591 and crashed into trees and a ditch in poor weather.

It happened at 6.45pm on Saturday 17 March near to Bannerigg Farm between Windermere and Ings.

A four-year-old girl and a boy of the same age were in the back of the car.

The boy suffered minor injuries and the girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries where she remains in a critical condition.

The driver, a 23-year-old woman, and front passenger, a 29-year-old man, both from Preston, sustained minor injuries.
