Passchendaele: Remembering the soldiers from our region

Hundreds of soldiers from this region who died in one of the first world war's bloodiest battle are being remembered today.

It's 100 years since the start of the Battle of Passchendaele, one of the most brutal conflicts of the first world war. It took place between July 31 and November 10 1917 in West Flanders, Belgium.

Two soldiers from the King's Own Scottish Borderers were awarded the Victoria Cross for their bravery.
