A family-friendly event will be taking place on Saturday 15 July, to celebrate Caerlaverock's 60th year as a national nature reserve (NNR).

The Caerlaverock National Nature Reserve in Dumfries and Galloway, is one of 50 in Scotland, 36 of which are managed by Scottish Natural Heritage.

This special reserve was born out of the landowner’s vision to create a place where conservation, farming, fishing and wildfowling could co-exist in harmony, so that future generations could also enjoy this unique landscape. Since then we’ve worked closely with the Caerlaverock Estate, the local community and a range of partners to uphold this vision and make the NNR a success.”

– Roddy Fairley, SNH’s Southern Scotland Manager

Attendees will also be able to find out more about the work taking place at the reserve. The event will be taking place at Barbour Hall in Glencaple from 11am to 4pm. There will be food, foraging walks, wildlife painting exhibitions and fly-tying demonstrations.
