Two 16-year-old teenagers were rescued while taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

They were airlifted from the hills near Newton Stewart on the evening of Tuesday 4 July by the Belfast Coastguard and Prestwick Search and Rescue teams, ahead of 20 members of the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team arriving at the location.

They suffered leg injuries. The rest of the expedition made their own way off the hill.
