Carlisle Airport plans set for take off with £4.75m government funding

Passenger flights from Carlisle Airport to London, Belfast, Dublin and some USA cities could be a step closer to reality with nearly £5-million of government funding.

The £4.75million, which comes from Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, will be used to improve the runway and terminal.

Northern Powerhouse Minister: Cumbria infrastructure to be reviewed alongside airport investment

The Northern Powerhouse Minister, Jake Berry MP, has been visiting Carlisle Airport today as nearly £5million government funding was announced.

Mr Berry told ITV Border that the transport network throughout the county would also be reviewed, to improve connectivity to the airport:
