Nearly 200 riders turned out in Peebles last night for the installation of the town's cornet.

The Beltane festival has been going for 118 years.

Last night saw the end of a 40-year career for two of the officials.

We're very fortunate in Peebles, we've got a lot of children involved in the Beltane, so if you've got children coming through, you've got their parents and their grandparents so that helps keep the traditions alive."

"Of course tradition as the word suggests, doesn't change and hasn't changed over the last 40 years. The Beltane is the same now as it was 40 years ago and every bit as good I hope."
